Serving Nevada & Placer Counties Since 1982
40 Years Building Fences That Last for Generations.
Sta-Bull Fence handles serious property work across Nevada and Placer Counties — custom fencing, ranch enclosures, gates, and land prep for properties where getting it wrong isn't an option.
Pete works every job himself. No subcontractors. No surprises.
What We Do
Built for Properties That Demand More Than a Post-Pounder
We focus on work that requires real experience — custom builds, rural properties, challenging terrain, and jobs that need to be done once and done right.
Custom Fencing
Most contractors install what they stock. We build what the property requires. Unusual lot, difficult terrain, specific design — Pete has 40 years of solving fence problems that other crews walk away from.
Learn more →Ranch & Livestock Fencing
Livestock fencing fails when it's installed by someone who has never worked a ranch. We have. Lodgepole, non-climb wire, high-tensile, barb wire, electric, and solar systems — sized and tensioned for your animals and your terrain.
Learn more →Gates & Entry Systems
A gate that sags, binds, or fails in year two costs more than doing it right the first time. Custom-fabricated entry gates, driveway gates, and automatic operators built to handle daily use and real weather.
Learn more →Land & Property Work
Pete owns and operates a Takeuchi TB240 mini excavator and full-size dump trailer — no rental equipment, no subs. Land clearing, site grading, rock drilling, and debris removal for properties where the terrain is the problem.

Projects Across Nevada & Placer Counties
A sample of completed work. Every project was run by Pete.

700 Linear Feet Across River Rock — Four Custom Gates
A contractor with 30 years in construction brought us in on a hillside property with river rock, variable elevation, and four access points. Most crews priced in steep contingency or declined entirely. We assessed it straight, quoted it clearly, and finished on schedule. His words: "I know quality when I see it."

500 Yards of Ranch Fencing — Early Winter Replacement
500 yards of aging lodgepole and wire on a working cattle ranch — posts rotting at grade, wire sagging. Replaced in full with new lodgepole posts, high-tensile livestock wire, and three custom gates. Cold ground, wet weather, hard deadline. Nothing was delayed.
Custom Cedar Privacy Fence + Electric Driveway Gate
Homeowner had a specific layout in mind — horizontal cedar boards, a yard-within-a-yard section, and an electric driveway gate that matched. Pete built it exactly as described. No substitutions. Two neighbors stopped to ask who did it before the crew left.

Commercial Perimeter Fence + Vehicle Access Gates
Chain link perimeter fencing and two vehicle-access gates for a commercial property adjacent to a road corridor. Licensed contractor work, built to code, completed to spec. No change orders. No punch list.
Why Sta-Bull
Why People Call Us — and Call Back
Pete works every job himself.
Not a foreman. Not a crew you've never met. Pete has run Sta-Bull since 1982 and he is still on-site every morning. If something needs a judgment call in the field, he makes it — not over the phone from an office.
Four decades on this specific terrain.
Nevada and Placer County soil is rocky, hilly, and unforgiving. There is no substitute for having drilled posts in river rock in Downieville and tensioned wire on steep Auburn hillsides for 40 years. That experience can't be approximated.
We take the jobs other contractors walk away from.
Steep grades, rocky ground, tight access, unusual layouts — these are the projects where corners get cut or bids come back padded with contingency costs. If your property is complicated, that's not a problem. It's where we earn our reputation.
The materials we use are the materials that last.
We don't substitute cheaper components to win a bid. Posts are set at the right depth. Wire is the right gauge. Hardware is commercial-grade where it needs to be. A fence done right costs less over ten years than one done cheap.
Straight estimates. No scope creep.
Pete's been doing this long enough to know what a job actually takes. You'll get a written estimate before work begins. If something unexpected comes up in the field, you'll hear about it before it touches your bill.

What Customers Say
“We needed 500 yards of old lodgepole replaced on a working ranch, in the middle of winter, with a hard deadline. Pete's crew showed up every day and didn't stop until it was done. On time, on budget, no excuses. If you have a real job that needs to get done, call these people.”
“I had a specific vision for my fence and an unusual lot. Pete came out, listened, asked the right questions, and built exactly what I described. No upselling, no substitutions, no surprises. My neighbors keep asking who did it. The electric gate has worked perfectly for two years.”
“I'm a general contractor with 30 years in construction. I brought Sta-Bull in on a project in Downieville — 700 feet of fencing across river rock, multiple elevation changes, four gates. Pete followed through on everything we discussed. I don't say this lightly: excellent work. Give him your business.”
