Family-Owned Since 1982
40 Years of Doing the Work Ourselves
Sta-Bull Fence Inc. has served ranchers, rural property owners, and homeowners across Nevada and Placer Counties since 1982. Pete is still on every job. That hasn't changed.

How Sta-Bull Fence Was Built
Pete started Sta-Bull Fence in 1982 with a straightforward philosophy: do the work yourself, use the right materials, and build something that lasts. Forty years later, nothing about that has changed. Pete is still on every job. He still shows up every morning and stays until the work is done correctly.
This is a family-run operation in the truest sense. Our office manager handles calls, estimates, and scheduling — she knows the work well enough to answer real questions, not just take a message. When you call Sta-Bull, you're talking to the people who will actually do your fence.
Over four decades, we've installed fences on flat suburban lots and 40-acre ranches, on river rock hillsides in Downieville and gentle grades in Auburn. We've built custom electric gates for residential driveways and replaced hundreds of yards of livestock fencing in a single winter. The range of work is wide, but the standard is always the same: assess honestly, estimate clearly, build properly.
Service Area
We serve Nevada County and Placer County, including Grass Valley, Auburn, Nevada City, Colfax, Rocklin, Downieville, and the surrounding rural communities. If you're in the foothills and not sure whether we cover your area, call us — we'll tell you straight.
Real Equipment for Tough Terrain
Rocky soil, steep grades, and river rock are the norm in Nevada and Placer Counties — not the exception. Pete owns and operates a Takeuchi TB240 mini excavator and a full-size dump trailer. Land clearing, grading, rock drilling, debris removal — he handles it himself, not through a sub.

Who Hires Sta-Bull Fence — and Why
They want someone who actually shows up.
Pete has never sent a crew without being on it himself. Pete is on every job. When something needs a judgment call in the field, he makes it — not a foreman on a phone.
They've been burned by low bids before.
A fence that costs less to install but fails in three years isn't a bargain. We use materials that hold and we install them correctly the first time. There's no version of this where we cut corners to win a bid.
Their terrain is hard and they know it.
River rock, steep grades, tight lots, seasonal water crossings — we've handled the jobs other contractors declined or botched. If your property is the reason other crews hesitated, that's exactly the kind of work we're set up for.
They want the job done — and done right.
Pete finishes what he starts. He stays on schedule, works through the hard parts of a job without excuses, and walks the finished fence with you before he leaves. That's been the standard since 1982.
